For over 15 years John de Lombardo has been passionately creating organic, beautiful and sometimes confrontational photography that exposes the intrigue of the human body. With a creative eye, John prefers to photograph ‘real’ models, finding them far more interesting and challenging. Using a myriad of strong characters, unusual looking people, performers, contortionists and unusual body parts his photography exposes the incredible beauty, flexibility and quirkiness of the human form. Johns’ photography varies in style from shots of particularly well cut men and woman in extremely flexible poses where one can get lost in the line and shape of the body as well as marvel at the extremity of the pose to weird and wonky toes to the beautifully erotic. Always working in the moment John embraces the more emotional, confrontational side of his work with passion and wisdom. Directing his models with clarity and sensibility John captures them in their truth and depth, revealing a window into the human experience not often seen. “My intention is to not only stimulate the eye but also the mind” John de Lombardo. Originally from Sydney then based in Melbourne John now works from Byron Bay.
